Using Targeting Recommendations

AdScail generates platform-specific targeting recommendations for every campaign. Here's how to use them effectively.

What You Get

For each platform you select, AdScail provides:

  • Interest targeting: Relevant interests and behaviors to target
  • Lookalike suggestions: Which audiences to build lookalikes from
  • Exclusions: Who to exclude from your targeting
  • Demographics: Recommended age, gender, location settings
  • Placement recommendations: Where your ads should appear

Implementing in Meta Ads Manager

  1. Create a new campaign in Ads Manager
  2. At the ad set level, go to Audience
  3. Copy interest targeting from AdScail into "Detailed Targeting"
  4. Set up custom audiences and lookalikes as recommended
  5. Add exclusions under "Exclude"

Implementing in TikTok Ads

  1. Create campaign in TikTok Ads Manager
  2. At ad group level, set targeting
  3. Use interest categories from AdScail
  4. Apply demographic recommendations

Testing Targeting

AdScail recommendations are starting points. Test them:

  • Start with recommendations: Run them as your baseline
  • Test broad: Try Advantage+ or broad targeting against specific interests
  • Layer lookalikes: Test 1% vs 3% vs 5% lookalikes
  • Refine based on data: Let results guide your optimization

Platform Differences

Each platform has different targeting capabilities:

  • Meta (Facebook/Instagram): Most robust interest targeting, best lookalike audiences
  • TikTok: Interest-based, strong with younger demographics
  • YouTube: Intent-based targeting, keyword and channel targeting

AdScail tailors recommendations to each platform's strengths.

Pro Tip

Don't stack too many interests at once. Start with 3-5 core interests, test performance, then expand or narrow based on results.
